During the month of October, the Jacksonville and Dallas offices held a competition to see which office could collect the most non-perishable food items in honor of World Food Day on October 16th.
World Food Day celebrates the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on October 16, 1945 in Quebec, Canada. First established in 1979, World Food Day has since then been observed in almost every country by millions of people. On October 16, people around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate hunger in our lifetime.
The Jacksonville Operations and Headquarters won the competition with a collection of 945 total items. Dallas Operations and National Sales ended the competition with 266 items. The Jacksonville offices donated their items to Lutheran Social Services while Dallas donated their items to Hope Food Pantry.
