During the month of November R2 employees participated in the company-wide sponsored event, No Shave Movember. To participate, individuals were encouraged to grow their best beard or mustache to raise awareness for men’s health issues. In addition, employees also had the option to take part in a fund raising competition using the mobile app, Charity Miles.
Charity Miles allows users to earn sponsorships on behalf of certain charities (such as Stand Up to Cancer) while walking, running and biking. Users can earn up to 25 cents per mile for their chosen charity while walking or running, and up to 10 cents per mile while biking. The participant who then earned the most money would be named the winner.
The winner of the fund raising competition was Matt Maurer from the Detroit operations branch. He raised a total of $38.71 through Charity Miles and accumulated 154.79 miles over the four week challenge period. The company altogether raised $169.12 and reached a total of 761 miles.
The company also voted on pictures submitted by the individuals participating in the best beard or mustache competition. Taking the prize for his mustache was Dan Knopf, Houston operations Branch Manager.
